What this capability handles

How it works in detail.

Benefits Enrollment makes open enrollment manageable for a mid-market people ops team by handling the questions and intake that otherwise consume the season. Open enrollment is predictable in its pain: employees ask the same plan questions, elections come in incomplete, and the team spends weeks chasing details and re-explaining options. This capability is for people ops teams in companies of 80 to 800 employees who want enrollment to run clean and complete without a person walking every employee through it. The outcome is plan-aware answers, captured elections, and a complete record in the HRIS. Operationally it follows a set sequence. It reads the question, then retrieves the relevant plan, then drafts an answer, then captures the election, and finally logs it to the HRIS. It runs inside your existing systems: the HRIS, the document repository, and messaging. It works from the data you maintain: the benefits plans, the plan-rules library, the enrollment window, and prior elections. For each interaction it produces a plan-aware answer and, where the employee is ready, a captured election written to the HRIS so the record is complete and current. The decision logic is grounded in your plans. It uses plan rules and enrollment-window logic to answer questions accurately and to capture elections within the correct window, so timing and eligibility are respected rather than assumed. Exceptions are routed: broker-sensitive questions and benefits-dispute items go to the HRBP with confidentiality preserved, because those belong with a person who can engage the broker or resolve the dispute. It hands to a human on three conditions: a broker-sensitive flag, a plan-version conflict, or a dispute signal. Every action is logged and reviewable, giving the HRBP a clear record of what was answered, captured, and escalated. This capability fits best when benefits plans are loaded, the enrollment window is agreed, and HRIS write-access is configured. Its primary measure is benefits intake completeness, with a target above 95%. It carries 10-15% of the role's volume, and 10-20% of the role's impact comes from benefits intake running clean across open enrollment. The result is an enrollment season that closes with complete, accurate elections, employees who get plan-aware answers when they need them, and a people ops team that is no longer the bottleneck for every benefits question.

When this capability shows up

Real-shape scenarios.

Patterns where benefits enrollment is part of the launch set, with volume and pricing anchored to each company profile.

  • Services firm with high PTO volume and benefits cadence

    Services · 200-500

    800 / mo

A 400-person services firm runs 800 lifecycle events a month. PTO routes manually. Offboarding misses asset recovery. Benefits enrollment overwhelms the team every year.

People Operations Coordinator activates all five capabilities. Onboarding, offboarding, PTO, handbook Q&A, and benefits enrollment all run on cadence with confidentiality preserved.

Expected outcomes: lifecycle cycle-time reduction 50-70%, access removal on schedule 98%+, benefits intake completeness above 95%.

  • Upper-mid marketplace with multi-country employee base

    Marketplaces · 300-800

    1,500 / mo

A 600-person marketplace runs 1,500 lifecycle events a month across four countries. PTO policies differ by country; benefits enrollment windows stagger; offboarding misses asset recovery on remote leavers.

People Operations Coordinator activates all five capabilities. Country-aware PTO routing lands clean; onboarding and offboarding run to checklist; benefits intake captures completeness per country; handbook Q&A cites jurisdiction.

Expected outcomes: lifecycle cycle-time reduction 50-70%, access removal on schedule above 98%, benefits intake completeness above 95%, handbook self-serve above 85%, confidentiality preserved on every sensitive event.
